Joomla: Changing Date and Time in Articles

By default the date and time show up in articles as Saturday, 14 November 2009 19:02. Personally, I prefer not to let every know that I do most of my writing at 3:00 AM in my pajamas while I'm watching South Park.

You'd think this was an easy adjustment to make. You'd think the setting was right were it should be, like in the article parameters. No such luck. Changing this will rewuire editing a .ini file so hopefully you have access to it. If not read this article on ftp and getting to your files.

The file in question can be found at: /administrator/language/en-GB/en-GB.ini

Download it and open it in Notepad - or better yet Notepad++

On line #11 you'll find this line:

DATE_FORMAT_LC2=%A, %d %B %Y %H:%M

Here's what the parameters mean:

%A

%d

%B

%Y

%H:

%M

You may also need to do this in the root site file at: language/en-GB/en-GB.ini
