Using Windows 7 or Vista Compatibility Mode

Windows 7 may have some problems running older applications that worked fine in XP. A lot has changed in Vista and Windows 7. Thankfully there's a way to get around this, though not guaranteed.

Before trying this however, you should try shutting off visual themes or running the app as Administrator. This is particularly useful with games.

To set up and use compatibility mode:

  • Go to the installation directory in C:\Program Files and find the .exe file and right click on it.
  • Choose Properties.
  • Select the Compatibility tab.
  • Select the Run this program in compatibility mode for:
  • Choose a mode.
    compatability
    You may want to select the Run this program as an administrator if your running a game, but try it.
